The Aroles determined that the village health care workers should be chosen from the lower cliques. The Aroles knew that these women would have to be educated and would fatality more training than women from the higher castes. Although the caste system in India today seems to be on the decline, it is in the villages that the caste system still dictates peoples way of life.
