Undoubtedly, Paul has made a great contri yetion to the Christian religion and its body. Through his letters he dismantled the doddering Jewish system and established a new but non entirely new one. Paul made a radical interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures rethinking the Jewish system. Instead of the grey-haired system of law and works, Paul believed in the mew system of Christ and faith. In Galatians 3 Paul uses Abraham who is in the senior Testament the father of all the Jews but did non sustain the law as there was no law indite yet when he lived, to prove that the law is not necessary. He believed that what is indeed important is faith which will help pack get the Holy Spirit (Galatians 3: 1 - 5). Likewise, by using the Habakkuk 2: 4 where is says the righteous do not live by being greedy, Paul says the righteous do not need to live by the law. However, it has nothing to do with the law.
Frankly speaking, there are numerous examples of Paul misinterpreting the verses in the senile Testament. Very frequently he reverses metaphors and twists everything. Many of his arguments are not based on anything and can be easily overcome.
The moderateness for that could be Pauls personal struggles and temptations which resulted in his attempt to overthrow the out of date system which would help Paul himself in some way. Besides, Paul appears almost always angry and very concern with the purity of the body as a real Jew would.
